Tree node photogrametry library for wood bike construction

A piece of wood with a knot that has been partially milled, following the extrapolated lines of the branch direction to take advantage of the material's anisotropy.
A bicycle frame, consisting of a 5-axis-milled tree node and wooden slats.

The proposal was to manufacture a wooden bicycle from tree nodes scanned using photogrammetry. In this way, the material’s anisotropy is viewed as an advantage for creating a naturally strong joint, without the need for additives to reinforce its structural capacity, and making the most of the tree.

Prototypes were manufactured using a 3-axis CNC router,
with a frame designed to allow a 180° rotation on the cutting plane and approximate the expected result using a 5-axis CNC router
or a robotic arm equipped with a milling tool.
